With all of it's trappings. I don't envy the govts and it makes the arrogance of the CEOs etc taking bonuses for helping make this mess.
If I was one of them, I would "hit the road, afeared of lynchings", rather than draw attention to myself.
Greed works in wondrous ways.

Dare I say that we need some equity or socialism?

According to Wikipedia
"Equity is the concept or idea of fairness in economics, particularly as to taxation or welfare economics"
