BartendingBear says: Sometimes it is handy, but overall... not smart at all. When teaching in Alice Springs, I initiated the idea of students having a drink of water closer than the outside taps (on the desks) I also had a lesson on what containers should be used. The students opted against the disposable bottles - There was no recycling place in the Alice then.. (They also opted against flavoured water). They spoke of the environment and health. That was over 10 years ago. I hope they have retained the good habits. At a restaurant recently we were offered water before ordering dinner. Herself requested spring water and I asked for tap water (or 'Regular' as the waiter put it). When the bill came, mine was free; another good reason for choosing bottled water! I mean tap water !! Doh! Wouldn't the same logic apply to anything bottled in plastic or made of plastic? While the glass over plastic argument may hold, other beverages such as colas and juices are not available from a tap in virtually any structure. Yes, Kauaiguy, but bottled water is especially stupid. |
