ericskiff says: Hmm - this would certainly be an interesting move from the internet auction behemoth. WOW. They should save some money and buy CM for $39+million instead... I'm wondering how internet stumbling could benefit an online auction site? Aside from slapping their logo on it what use would it serve them? I think it has a similar appeal that CM does. You're able to find some relevant and/or interesting info somewhat filtered. So, the concept is certainly something of interest to most who gets acquainted with it... which is one benefit... then there's this other possibility of being able to show product offers from Ebay that would be context-oriented, ala retail version of AdWords by Google. It does have the same potential perplexity as their purchase of Skype was, but one can always come up with creative ways to integrated the various technologies. And, of course there's that whole element of eyes... although I'm sure Ebay isn't lacking those, but more is always merrier. ebay buying skype was a bad idea, ebay buying social networking site seems worst. As you can tell, I hate ebay. I DONT ebay at all. I even delete the references to it on my computer. This is a move to buy a readership, nothing else. All those viewers equals ad dollars as they spam you based on what content you might watch. Also if the IRS gets their way, Ebay (and others) will have to turn over sales records so that IRS can collect on all the tax free sales that people being have been pocketing and not reporting. Thus Ebay, will have to diversify to make up for lost revenues, which they surely will. and then, there is always a slip (read Google) in between the cup & the lips...stumble upon is a wonderful site...don't like much of ebay.. |
