alanocu says: "Paintings, clothing, books, jewelry, and architecture were all imbued with colorful symbolism. African historian Alistair Boddy-Evans explains that color “was considered an integral part of an item’s or person’s nature in Ancient Egypt, and the term could interchangeably mean color, appearance, character, being, or nature. Items with similar color were believed to have similar properties.” Magical clip Alan. Stunning pics. There is a picture on the site of an Arab dhow on the Nile at sunset. Enlarged, it is exquisite. Stunning! You're on a roll Alanocu! Superb. As ever! Thanks Alan I still like to imagine what the Great Pyramid must've looked like when still relatively pristine...with it's polished limestone casings and capstone. Some speculate that it also served as a light-house beacon for navigation on the Nile at night, as it would've been highly reflective of moonlight as well. In sunlight it was surely striking, perhaps even oppressively so (without sunglasses anyways). Each time I clip photos such as these, it makes me want to travel more! Thanks for the great comments! Thanks for the great clip. |
