There is a double standard at work here. Pictures of dead Iraqis, no problem, dead Americans...oh no way!

Media personnel could only travel with the armed forces if they agreed to be censored. International coverage was vastly more critical of American conduct that the embedded reporters were allowed to be. Imagine - if the negatives you heard were the censored version, the tamed-down version by international journalism standards, things must have been going really badly indeed!
And one can scarcely shrug one's shoulders and insist that the worldwide media are all "liberal."
