bignosemousie says: I think Harry is going to die. Voldemort's going to die too. Anyone? yeah, i'm not good at predicting this kind of stuff. but really, i don't care who dies and who doesn't...i mean i love the books, but if she killed harry, it would really save herself since no one else can write more books about it...so harry will prolly end up dying. its not that hard of a concept to grasp. all the time, the 'hero' of the story decides to send off all the people he's trying to save, telling them to save themselves, while he faces the bad guy alone for the last time. its self-sacrificial and heroic, and it makes the reader respect the hero more. i can see Harry ending up pulling that kind of thing. Harry's already done it a few times, except he managed to not die. Voldemort is definitely going down, anyone whos read even just the first book can tell you that, but he's not going easily. i think Harry's going to need some help from those who love him. There's been a theme of the protection of love for the whole series "I'm sure J.K. Rowling would get some howlers if Harry Potter did not survive," she said.somehow I don't think that'll stop her. it was going to be seven books all along....she wouldn't have declared such a finite number if she didn't have a finite "conclusion" lined up from the very beginning. i think Harry's going to need some help from those who love him.and yes, barfobulator, i'm sure ron & hermione will fight him to the very end. Much as i'm sure i'll cry when i read about Harry's death (i cried when dumbledore died, and sirius black, too - YES, i'm a big sob....), i would actually ... i would actually be disappointed if there was a happy end to the 7th book.Me too. I also think that Snape really is on Team Voldemort. Frankly I don't think Harry is the one to take out Voldemort, its Nevel(sp?) Longbottom. He has had just as much tragedy in his life as Harry and has the same prophecy marks as Harry does. He's just a quieter guy and I think Rowling will play Harry up as the "knightly hero" while Nevel will be the real hero. Any chance that she'll follow the Sopranos ending? As the book concludes and you turn to the final page to find out how it all ends, the last page will just be black. lol, egoldstein. I really don't think Rowling's fans would take that very well. I know I wouldn't. Oortcloud, interesting thoughts about Longbottom. I think you are right that book 7 will be his time to shine. I really think that Harry is one of those "containers" for Voldemort's soul, which happened when Voldemort tried to kill Harry back when he was a baby. Harry has to die in order for Voldemort to stay dead. I can't recall what those things are called, sorry. Passion over someone else's fantasy. Kinda like football isn't it? yup |
