This is a GREAT tip...unique (had never heard of this!) and useful! Thank you. Seems to only work in Explorer.. that is, doesn't work for my file manager, but works for me in Explorer. So, great tip if you are an explorer user. As you said, it can be bypassed easily and I'm pretty that you can it doesn't when you are exploring your folder with Nero. Hehe that's right.. This is an easy way to lock a folder.. It's not a professional way. If you want that just install a lock application. Good way to mess around with someone who doesn't know about computers. Find the key! I feel this is a beneficial tip simply because it is so rudimentary. This is the very germination of a do it yourself security measure which could be expounded upon by anyone worth half their weight in sea salt. Thanks for sharing. rudimentary germination expounded sea salt makes me wanna complete. makes me wanna use the "translate page" button To lock my vulnerable WINDOWS folder on my tower PC I followed the instructions above, naming everything "WINDOWS" instead of "pics", of course. Maybe I shouldn't have restarted the engine after that. After all I'm really glad I still have my notebook. that is absolute genius! if you were to set it up, lock the folder, then move the "key.bat" file away somewhere else, eg a usb flash drive. A free, simple-to-use (as long as you follow the instructions & dont repeat rasmus's mistake!) locker. |
