For all the Liberals out there who have fallen in love with Mr. Paul, I suggest they take another look at the real Ron Paul. Sure he's against the war in Iraq but that's not his entire agenda. This quy is more of a nut than most think.

I, for one, am a liberal who is totally NOT in love with Ron Paul. I don't understand why people fall for his line. He doesn't want a government per se. He never says so, but it appears that he operates from a place of admiration for Social Darwinism.

"The establishment clause of the First Amendment was simply intended to forbid the creation of an official state church like the Church of England, not to drive religion out of public life."
What is so nutty about wanting tolerance for all people, yes, even the religous ones? He is a strict constitutionalist, who happens to subscribe to a christian idea of religion, that does not mean he will say YOU must be a christian, or even a "believer". I do not object to any religion, or non-religion displays of whatever,(Paul was referring to christmas decorations in these comments) I do object giving "special priveledge" in the form of tax exemptions, etc. to religions, but that is ...

This clip is misleading. Ron Paul is a Christian and that is fine. If you knew more about Ron Paul you would know that he separates his beliefs when introducing and voting on legislation. Look at the whole picture.

Many, many years ago, I clipped and saved a cartoon from a magazine, either Playboy or the New Yorker, that had two lions relaxing amid scattered bones in their den backstage at the Colisseum. One lion was telling the other, "I've got news for you - Christians give everybody heartburn."

LMAO! Now that is genuinely funny. Thank you.

Christian Natiionalists are liars and charlatans. Their agenda is clearly using the force of the state to force their views on everyone and to make this a Christian Nation. The 1st Amendment says they can't do that and this causes them to act like petulant children.

I cautioned about that a couple of months ago, but wasn't sure if it was a Swiftboat Liars tactic to keep him out of the running.

If he's doesn't support the constitutional separation of church and state, as far as I'm concerned, he'll never get my vote. We need to RESTORE our Constitution from the Bush years, not continue the dismantling of it.

Of course it's along the lines of a swiftboat lie! Are you kidding, he is the ONLY candidate that gives a damn about the constitution, wholly and completely, not just the bits they can benefit them! Do not expect him to be a liberal, he never claims to be, if that is your agenda, well, yes then beware, he is a constitutionalist and that usually does not play well with the liberal OR the neo-con agendas. Read the constitution, then have a look at the voting records of the candidates and their comments or agendas, you will find he is the only one consulting the constitution in his voting, and not what some special interest groups ideals are.

Words from Mr. Paul:
Through perverse
court decisions and years of cultural indoctrination, the elitist,
secular Left has managed to convince many in our nation that religion
must be driven from public view. The justification is always that
someone, somewhere, might possibly be offended or feel uncomfortable
living in the midst of a largely Christian society, so all must
yield to the fragile sensibilities of the few. The ultimate goal
of the anti-religious elites is to transform America into a completely
secular nation, a nation that is legally and cu...

"The 1st Amendment says they can't do that and this causes them to act like petulant children."

This won't stop the Christian Nationalists (or Dominionists, or whatever they call themselves). I've read some of their web sites, and they plan to abolish the Constitution and replace it with biblical law. One site (sorry, I forget which one) even advocates putting adultery on the list of capital crimes and reviving stoning as a form of execution. Their groups may be smal and they may be nutjobs, but they're very vocal nutjobs.

It's a common political strategy to let small groups of extremists - a tactic used by both left and right - promote radical measures in hopes of pushing cen...

I hope you're wrong here. I do suspect that the exposure and ridicule of their ideology can't be something that they desire. At any rate, silence is their strength. Not their silence but the silence of people that oppose their dogma.

It's a common political strategy to let small groups of extremists
Unfortunately your comment above (and what follows it) are chillingly true. Except I believe that the treat is not so much with a small isolated group of extremeists. There is a remarkable segment of the US population who fir...

So, instead of the candidate who if for giving the people the most individual freedoms, then who is better? These? http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/07/22/democrats.religion/index.html#cnnSTCVideo
Or the one in the lead, like her? http://www.cbn.com/CBNnews/117043.aspx or how about the other republicans, like the front runner endorsed by P. Robertson himself? Or no vote?

That is argumentative to say the least.

I'll reserve my judgement for later when the field has cleared. I'm sure their positions will have changed by then.

A disclaimer should be added to the above post, I thought this clip was in reference to Ron Paul, the website provided there has nothing to do with him, in fact if you put his name in the search on it, there is an article against him and his principals. So they clearly do not support his message, which is to resurrect the constitution, not change or abolish it!

AtlLiberal, I want to add, thank you for not censoring your clip, I admire that and I respect you even more for not only that, but for not resorting to personal attacks against those who wish to offer a different way of seeing things. I wish more clippers were like you! I have see...
