What comfort has reading brought you? What courage has a well-turned phrase stirred in you? Books are like steadfast friends: the words never change, yet I never tire of reading them.

One of my favorite sounds on Earth is the gentle shushing of pages turning. What will the next page bring? comfort, joy, peace, sanity, conviction, courage, hope, relief, laughter?

Exciting, isn't it?

Wonderful clip! There is nothing like the feel and the smell of a book, isn't there? Books have transported me to places and given me mini-vacations. Thanks for brightening my morning!

Kelika, I do love the smell of books! My 6-year-old has started smelling the pages too, when she first opens a new book, haha.

I think books are the best way to travel.

I just got back from 2 weeks in the States n Canada, and it was my first time bringing my new Sony E-Reader on holidays.
No smell of book , no sound of the turning of pages--but---i got to carry 160 books with me without breaking my carry on weight allowance, lol

As a young girl and woman I spent all my time in our local library scouting the shelves for a new discovery, going to places I could never visit, and learning.

They provide a visual through words so alive and present that the reader
sits center stage, right in the action, in control of its delivery
through the turn of each page until the last when the stage darkens and
the story ends. This is why I love books.
I always order brand new hardback books only and everyone in my home knows not to touch my book before I've read it first, because I want to know how it smells and feels as I touch every page.

Finally, it’s the power of the book. The power it has the influence ...

My iPhone has no smell (may be they will invent something), but it hold a lot of books and I don't even know, when I going to read all of them. Some readers like Classics produce rustling and full impression of turning yellowish pages between luxury leather covers, some just flashing white words on black background. I like speed readers accommodated to my comprehension. Or take magazines in Zinio. Or dictionary or translators. No more smell of dust or toxic chemicals from printing paint. No hassles of recycling. No guilt of brainless disposal of our green protection. No burrowing in libraries.

IMHO, the days of old...

And I look back with no pity. What for? To miss printing press?
Yes! Yes! A thousand times, yes! The weight of a book, the smooth cover, the rustling of pages, the impression of the print on the paper, the smell of the page: all of it is intoxicating to me. I would miss it like an appendage. I hope the printed word never dies. Never!
