AtlLiberal says: I particularly liked the "spiritual prayer wall" concept. The idea is so elegantly simple. I'm surprised Bush doesn't immediately seize the opportunity to withdraw all the troops and erect this "prayer wall" around the country. Problem solved. The terrorists couldn't possibly penetrate it and the country would be safe. Also, what was McIntyre thinking? If atheists prayed might that cause problems? I'm not sure how the prayer pipeline operates but this seems problematic at best. It seems atheists might cause prayer static to be generated that could block the prayers of true believers. Maybe they should rethink this whole prayer thing. Maybe do something concrete like begin talks with parties in the middle east? What do I know though. I guess I'll try prayer and see if I get any answers....hello....hello....anybody home? This is what happens to all of the prayers. http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/4FC61413-AEAC-4DD4-B699-54C2AB2B3710/ I love those. Reminds me of The Office. Thanks! There is an enormous power in prayer There are no two opinions about it! I prefer actually doing something. There was that one time I wished upon a star... mugofcoffee said:I'm somewhat confused by your response. I think your saying that no one shares an opinion on this topic. And what enormous power in prayer are you referring to. It this exists it would seem to be a wonderful thing. How does prayer differ from talking to yourself? God, if there is enormous power in prayer, we need to learn how to harness it.. cause with all the crazy bible thumping wackos the US has, you could easily provide all the power needed to run our planet! The answer to global warming is PRAYER!! /end sarcastic flame bait... I can't believe we are slipping this low. i know... My pet theory on why prayer is so persistent (at least one reason of many) is that people only recall what to them are the positive results. "I prayed that my sisters warts would disappear and the next day they were gone". The other 999 unanswered prayers are forgotten. Of course theists counter that because I'm atheist I don't believe in prayer and that's the reason it doesn't work. BTW, the same logic can be applied to most any type of ESP or other such pseudo-science. People remember the hits and forget the misses. Oh, I forgot the canard, "god works in mysterious ways". Always a good fall back position. |
