I'd say the short answer is that nobody that brings this point up can stop themselves from mixing in a large dose of schoolyard insults, and thus makes themselves easily ignorable. Case in point would be your own post.

That's your excuse as to why those who consider themselves environmentalists aren't condemning Al for his hypocrisy? That's pretty weak bud. It essentially amounts to, "Someone might call us a name so we'll just ignore it."

I'm OK if you ignore me and those who criticize this type of hypocrisy from outside the environmental movement but it's shameful that environmentalists themselves ignore it. It means the very core of what makes up the movement is false and without true conviction. It's more of a war against those who don't "believe" rather than a genuine passion for behavioral change that would positively affect the environment.
