There are allways two sides to a coin. Ying and yang, good and bad. The problem I have is the massive amount of cameras, and the trade of security for freedom. But, they do have their place.

We need to watch them as they watch us. Always carry a camera. See something wrong, crime, police abuse, or even good police conduct, take a picture.

We do Cop Watch here and often when someone is getting hassled for something like looking poor too close to the mall, we take pictures and often, they cut them loose and leave. If I see a cop doing good, I take a picture and I file a good conduct report.If I see one doing bad, I take a picture and file a report.

deadcowkid – on that general topic, at least one "advice for activists" website I've seen says that if you have a cell phone that takes video, set it so it doesn't automatically shut off after 15 seconds (or 30, or whatever your particular model does). That way if you see something going on that you think should be documented, you won't have to (conspicuously) fiddle around with your phone getting it set right, you can just discreetly pull it out, point it the right direction, and press the "record" button.

I'm trying to get it to be more of a reflex – if something happens that draws my attention and makes me think "WTF is going on over there?" pull out the phone and start recording. I ...
