Good luck with that one and let's hope for the best. Bravo, and absolutely correct. It is rarely in the churches of the socially dominant that the most Christ-like are found; he himself avoided such company. American Christians owe a great deal to the Black church - and we (who are white) would do well to be quiet and listen deeply. As a pedestrian in the U.S. you have the right-of-way when entering a crosswalk (with the light green of course if present). Now if someone hits you they are in the wrong, but you are still hurt or dead. It does not matter for Obama if Wright's argument has validity, it matters how it is perceived and received. Unfortunately for Obama that reception has not been so good. You cannot help Obama by trying to defend Wright no matter how justified or thoughtful Wright might be. The bus that is American public opinion ran over Wright and hurt Obama by association. My suggestion would be to stop trying to push Obama into the intersection too just so that you can cry justified foul on the Rep... It is not really about Obama for me, but rather how people vilify the truth. That just ticks me off. Understood. Yet truth is a fuzzy concept that looks very different from different perspectives. |
