dorine says: This could get serious very shortly. Don't fall for it , dorine. Farmers are paid not to grow corn at this point. I don't know. I've read where farmers are not planting anything except corn. I've heard about this elsewhere the thing is there is research done into alternatives eg:ethanol being produced from waste and wood leftovers Plus the price of feed for laying hens has damn near doubled in the last ten months Grain enough or not, water shortages (irrigation), urbanization, the bee die-off (raising prices of animal feed), climate changes (droughts, floods etc) and the price of oil could all contribute to food becoming so expensive, that for the poor at least, there most probably will be food shortages in the future. Turning waste into fuel is one thing, but food? I don't understand the priority, Hemp is one of the fastest growers in the plant kingdom. It can turn sunlight into cellulose and carbohydrates that can be made into ethanol. Do we have so much food that we can burn it? Corn has so many unique uses it would be negligence to use it when something else's use would change it from being a waste to an asset,There seems a warped principle, that we will make as much fuel as we can (We'll always need more), and if there is any left the people may have a chance to eat.The way they are describing energy, is criminally ignorant. They are still flogging a dead horse. The big problem with energy, is it's t... Very well said pokkets. Thumbs up. USA got make better negociation to Brazil, to get the ethanol and technology they need. Our alternative energy source came not from corn, but from sugar cane, and others goods our land produce in abundance I quoted what pokkets had to say on energy on my blog very insightful, I was suprised to see recently that nuclear energy is essential from steam from the platonium rods submergered in water, I don't know how true this is though |
