This piece struck me, not least because of the many altercations which take place here on Clipmarks.

When you write for the web, you open yourself up to breathtakingly vicious vitriol. People wish things on your mother, simply for bearing you, that you wouldn't wish on Hitler.
Humorous but with a hint of truth?

But even in their quieter modes, denizens of the web seem to lug around huge egos and deeply questionable assumptions about how interesting they and their lives might be to others.
The answer to the rise of blogging.

Indeed. There truely are some dull blogs and sites out there.

The blogging phenomena is on the whole a very important advancement in communications IMO as the "press" is no longer almost the sole domain of those who own it. In other words those controlling the press can no longer treat the readers as mushrooms ( keep them in the dark and feed them horse shit).

On the other hand there really are sooo very many wasting bandwidth with their self-absorbed ego blogs. They could save so much time by simply kissing themselves in the mirror.

Then there is an argument of course that if the Internet is free to everyone, why should 'the dull' have their share of space on it.

Nice clip. I hope none of us are accused to being the same. No doubt impossible to be unscathed. As humans, I think we do strive to try to connect. I am glad that most have been given a chance to be heard that do not have a voice, especially in deeper parts of the world. Views now, with this new media as usual will run the gamut from those with huge egos that have nothing good to say or offer, to those that should be heard with little voices and no want or need for any real ego at all.

The Internet is a place where you can interact with other people and have complete control over how much they know about you. Or supposedly that is the case, and virtually everybody on the Internet is committed to achieving that goal.

Problem is, that even if you reveal nothing personal, those insistent on creating the illusion that their interactions with others on the Internet are personal as in real life, will create caricatures in their own minds that they then imagine exist, with whom to interact. Some seem incapable of engaging in the interaction of thought and ideas absent these.

Hey Kore! I have been a big rubbish, haven't I! Busy as usual, and a little under the weather for a good part of the Winter. I feel about 80 years old at the moment!

I hope all's well with you!
