However, as the switch discovers the addresses associated with each port, it only forwards network traffic to the necessary segments improving overall performance. <A title="Broadcasting%20%28networks%29" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadcasting_%28networks%29">Broadcast</A> traffic is still forwarded to all network segments.
