Here's my problem with the "gays should be celibate" approach. Why should I expect less and accept less from life because I happen to be gay? Most people, including lots of gay people, aren't cut out for celibacy. That's why they call it the "give of celibacy." Not everybody gets it. Why not advocate a model for gays & lesbians to find a healthy, life-affirming way to express their sexuality and integrate it into their lives? Why not encourage committed monogamous relationships among gays & lesbians? What a joke. The bishops are basically saying they support gays as long as they don't have sex. I am so glad that i don't care about what the church says because they're conclusions, judgments, opinions, etc. make so little sense to me. We just watched a very searing documentary two nights ago regarding sexual abuse among the Catholics clergy, and the cover-up by the hierarchy, including the present pope in his previous position within the power structure. It was enough to gag a maggot or vulture. So IMO that august organization has absolutely no credibility when speaking on the mores of sexuality. Membership is voluntary. Quit, or don't join. Simple. Membership in what Godfrey? The bishops are basically saying they support gays as long as they don't have sex.Just as I am sure they support all sinners in any situation. I am so glad that i don't care about what the church says becauseIt is refreshing to hear people admit they don't care and admit a lack of understanding of a Church's opinions on moral issues, ethics, religion, and society. Nevermind the "clearthinking" dogma of nihilistic materialism and post-modern humanism that is so pervasive and growing. Yea, that's really a good idea... just don't listen. So tragic this is the course for so many. There is only one that can judge Sin and that "One" only judges at the gateway to the next iteration of life. Therefore any human or clergy that passes judgement is merely falsely juding, based on the human interpretation of "One's" laws. Considering humans are imperfect - it is conclusive that their interpretation of such laws is 99.9% incorrect. There is a distiction between "judging sin" and "judgement". The fact we as mere mortals are incapable of judging sin, does not render us impotent in terms of judgement. Except not all mortals judge by the same standards that you do, willhelm. And a mighty good thing this is too. Except not all mortals judge by the same standards that you do, willhelm. In a world without standards, how can this be anything but true. Thanks, LP it's the nicest thing you've ever said to me. |
