If they're going to declare the 10 Cmndmnts. that have been posted in a courtroom for 100 years, now illegal, or a town statue that some newcomer disagrees with be removed, or one kid has a part time dad who wants "God" removed from the school's Pledge of Allegiance when the rest are fine with it, or an art show can put piss and crap on a Christian picture and display it with public money, YET who will dare even draw Mohammed, and we scurry like scared rabbits ,or pseudo-multi-cultural types to install and display things Islamic, and bow when they refuse to do their jobs because of religious restrictions, etc,etc,.......then YES, we ARE caving in to Islam!

I wouldn't necessarily agree with that Aces. Every religion has rules and laws that govern its followers. Islam is a religion just like any other religion. What about the Crusades? The Spanish Inquisition? Islam is not alone in its violent history. You can use any religion and base a government around it -- and it has been done. If Republican, fundamentalist, Christian right-wingers have their way none of us would be freedom loving liberals.

Damn good point. And I believe you are correct on every point save a fine distinction. Our church-state separation is deliberate.

Sharia Law, however, is inherently Muslim and is a "legal" system under which politics subordinates its authority.

"Sharia (Arabic: شريعة transliteration: Šarī‘ah) is the dynamic body of Islamic religious law. The term means "way" or "path to the water source"; it is the legal framework within which the public and some private aspects of life are regulated for those living in a...
