That makes me thankful that I have a very rare surname - only three in all of North America that I know of, and two of those are in Canada. Only three, better not by committing anything illegal, it would make you so easy to find. I on the other hand on my father's side (I'm a woman) part of a very large family, my mother's side is gradually dying out. Satchamo, it's actually the other way around. Since my DNA is not in the system, and my closest blood relatives are in Canada and will never be in the US system, the chances of anyone making a close match of any of my trace left at a crime scene with a relative who might be in the system is very low - almost negligible. On the other hand, if I had tons of relatives, the chances that one of them might be on file is greater, making it more likely that they could narrow it down. |
