Why “survival panic” is good.

The greater opportunity of the downturn, Vaccaro said, is that it represents a chance to move away from “irrational” and “careless” consumerism toward “a more discerning consumer.”

Finally, growing up in poverty is paying off. I have few material needs and I can live on a shoestring. Yeah, a positive outcome of deprivation.

@dmgivern.

My life won't change much either, because I have always hated shopping and I have never had a credit card in my life. I'll get through it all relatively unscathed too. In fact, having been a saver and not a spender, these days the world seems to be my economic oyster with prices falling faster than I can say... no thank you.

I wonder if it will be a turn around in people getting creative again, make do and mend, adding things to clothes to give them a new look, remember the lace and frills added to jeans anyone? I think that was the 60's.

OK,
Wait a minute, did I hear TN say she hated shopping? Is this the same woman who has gone femmy shopping with me on many occasions? Now, just a sec, if I recollect I remember that debby just may have picked up the tab on those occasions
Soooooooooo, it is true that TN does not like to spend money and is thrifty, and has a nice friend like debby.

(And I'm teasing you sillywilly cause you also bought me some expensive stuff too

Wouldn't it be great to get automatic pay raises like Congress does without the hassle of having to ask for it?

Finally. I hope that discerning will include increased awareness and care about how products are manufactured, (environment, people's labor).

I googled cure for shoppers high and shoppers high cure - none or irrelevant results. Perhaps soon the results will return recession (or as predicted, economic depression)

Is this the same woman who has gone femmy shopping with me on many occasions? Hahahaha, aww Debs, when you're on vacation, the rules are a little different. It was simply a case of "when in Rome"!! Going to the Mall was purely a cultural experience. *LOL*

It should also be noted, my favourite part about it, was not the "souvernirs", (and how many of those were the oddest cat toys you ever did see?) It was the HUGE icecold beers, the Margaritas, the steaks and half-day looong lunches we always had, consuming that wonderful beer. Hahahaha!! Right? .

Okay, I'll admit, (I'd better own up to it, before you out me) that I do

have a genetic flaw that makes me particularly partial to very shiny,
sparkling, expensive, cute little stones (flawless, unlike me
Tell me about it And who said you aren't flawless? I loved those lunches! But I liked hanging out on the hammock even better girlfriend. We did have some fun didn't we? You're the best friend in the whole wide world TN, cause you accept me for who I am; thank you sweetheart and Merry Christmas.
