Is he senile or just dumb? McCain, who has been in Washington DC for 3 decades and has lobbyists as advisers out the yin-yang, says Obama is the Washington insider who brought the crisis about? That's how I spell desperation.

Phil Gramm, former McCain chief economic advisor, is the author of the deregulation bill that was appended to a budget bill in the closing hours of the 2002 Congress. Because of his work, there is no central record of securitized sub-prime financial instruments, no requirement that they be backed with cash, no common means of determining their value, and more money is invested in them than in the entire NYSE.
His bill also deregulated energy transactions, a precursor to the collapse of Enron.
No individual has contributed more to the current crisis than Phil Gramm - and he could still be John McCain's pick for Treasury Secretary.
I'd say John McCain is dangerously ignorant.
