chestnut501 says: In Ciudad Juarez, young women are being murdered. Two dozen teenage girls and young women have gone missing in this violent border city in the last year and half, stirring dark memories of the killings of hundreds of women that made Ciudad Juarez infamous a decade ago. Now, why would they call on Obama for anything? Maybe they are implying that the root of the problem is a cause originating from the US. With 1/20th of the worlds population, the US consumes 3/4's of the worlds illegal drugs. It's amazing how strong the pressure from the international community is growing by the day. I would love to know the influence behind Obama's reluctance to make those "changes" he talked about. As for all the women killed and missing, that goes on up and down the entire border and is directly tied to the drug trade. We can add that to the growing list of atrocities committed against women all over the world everyday. There are two sides to this that I see on the immigration issue. There's this and then there's the Shauna Forde & Minutemen tactics, which end in violence. Each way, is not acceptable. There has to be a middle ground. If I was from there, knowing all of this, I'd try to get across the border too. It doen't make it right, but it's a matter of survival. |
