Today, with modern communication, we can easily obtain these statistics, and however shocking they may be, we technically cannot say whether they are better or worse than they were in Lincoln's time. At least today, the United Nations & all civilized countries are making a strong effort to force nations that allow slavery to stop this practice through human rights efforts which again, without these modern agencies, were impossible for Lincoln to reach out to the rest of the world. He fought a brave personal battle with the Civil War just to hold our country together when the South wanted to form two countries, one to legally allow slavery, & the other who wanted equals rights for all men & women, & after Lincoln won the War, the South so hated him, that they took his life with a bullet in the back of his head while sitting with his wife in a theater watching a play. I believe we should be honest about the history of events, and recognize Lincoln for the great man he was & for the great things he did. We should also be honest enough to support the agencies attempting to get human rights into other countries to stop slavery, but let's not tarnish what Lincoln did with what is currently happening in the world.

how old they are and how some poor children involved in this slave
trade are the same age.
