I agree. This incident highlights so many failings of the human race.
I honestly don't believe religion is the main issue here. This, to me, is simply about power, authority, cruelty and malice... Or perhaps that is what some peoples idea of religion is all about?
So many times in our lives we are confronted by peoples opinions and beliefs which serve only to hinder and punish our very existence, either bureaucratic, religious, or just pure human self indulgence: I am going to f**k with you BECAUSE I CAN...
