jatfla says: While the headline is aggravating, in light of the intell coming out in dribbles, this will keep things working for the duration of the time specified by the chatter of bad things in the works. Cynics can claim that this is politics. Well, have you seen anything in Washington that has given you assurances that politics are not driving our governmental leaders....all of them? I'd err on the side of safety and security any day. The stakes are too high. The democrat congress was elected on a mandate to stop this war. Not only have they not done what they were put in office to do, now they're giving him even more power. I have no issue with wire-tapping WITH a warrant. Otherwise it's an invitation to a corruption party. Maybe they will get it when few of them are re-elected. In fact, the republicans were thrown out for similar reasons. Let's fire them all and start from scratch And maybe they finally know something that we don't know...and are receiving some intell that makes them a little more hesitant to pull the plug. And there was no mandate. If they collectively knew something that the American public didn't know, wouldn't the votes be almost unanimous? It seems to me they would. But in fact, votes concerning the war are far from unanimous. There are quite a few Republicans now voting with the majority of the Democrats on war issues. And probably with good reason. They want to keep their jobs and the American people are not happy with them as far as Iraq is concerned. Actually, as far as anything is concerned. That's because they aren't doing any more than the Republican-majority they replaced. A CBS poll a month ago stated that 77% of Americans think the war is going badly and furthermore, 40% of Americans want an IMMEDIATE wit... That should read six pro-war senators. |
