My personal preference is to hold the book in my hand and read it

I'm addicted to audio books. A friend is also and she shares hers with me. Fortunately, also, we like the same interests. Thanks for the site. These work will when I'm doing yard work, ironing, vacuuming, fixing dinner...or just wanting to tune out the rest of life. :~)

yer welcome gals....
I am a bit like debbie tho, i prefer reading, but what I liked about this site is that we can volunteer too, read a few books and load em up so others who maybe can't read can hear their latest favorite book.

You might also check out your local library's website also, since you are forced to pay for it anyway

I frequently download AudioBooks for "free" (yeah right) that would run me many $$$ on Audible.com.

My latest listen was "1776" by David McCullough. I did purchase that from Audible...well worth the price.

Audio may not be a substitute for books, but a fine adjunct!

Books require sitting down and doing nothing else. The only time I really sit is while I'm at the computer. While audio books allow me to do other things.

I'm afraid listening to "1776" would make me sad. I enjoy books by the likes of Vince Flynn, James Patterson, Michael Connelly, Brian Haig....

Exactly! It's soothing and relaxing because I can be fully enveloped in another world.

I don't mean to get off topic cause the clip is about e-books (sorry Antara, but sometimes a topic makes one think of a related topic)

I think new books smell so good and the pages feel so crisp that it's a treat to several senses

Now I'm really off topic, but I have used audio tapes for self-hypnosis which actually worked quite well.

Oooh, nice! I used to read books for the Blind Society, so this option to contribute appeals to me. Good find Antara. Thanks.

1776 reminded me what our forefathers FOUGHT for...sadly we are allowing it to be STRIPPED away before our very eyes...
