Few years ago i read about women only floors in a hotel in Bangkok. While i do not adhere to sex segregation, i actually found it sensible to allow traveling women a relief from undesired attentions and the sense of security that such an arrangement allows. Revolutions (such as bringing equal opportunities etc. to both genders) don't always work best by shuttering the old habits. Sometimes it is more efficient to allow a gradual change. My point is, if such hotel will encourage women in Saudi to venture beyond the confines of their home, it may contribute to empowering a shift in the social fabric. Well Said Fast! |
