michellezm says: Some of the pictures can be enlarged on site. It's interesting to wonder what is going on in the minds of some of these artists. Soehnee artwork is kind of dark; few faces shown; grim and troubled environments. What is your take on this Mzm? Yes, I agree they are grim and dark but ever so fascinating though disturbing. It reminds me of the works of Hieronymous Bosch and some of Mattias Grunewald(sic) (The Temptation of St Antony). I think they are symbolic artists but the key obviously is in understanding the symbolism used. Unfortunately they seem to have died with their secrets. Bruegel (Pieter the Elder) illustrated the well-known proverbs of his day. But to me, they are painting their own person demons. Please know, that I am a rank, rank amateur when it comes to most things, but especially art. I do know what I lke though, even if I don't understand it. Perhaps there is someone else who could shed some light on this type of art. |
