That's a good question, to which I wasn't immediately sure myself. I hear people correctly call them cicadas around here, but locust is frequently (and erroneously) synomymous. They are extremely numerous here in our trees (leaving their skin husks after molting), and hearing their "song" is a signal of summer days. Google yielded this result on the subject. |
