ladyC says: an interesting read - I love it when you read something that connects the dots. I've heard the title of the book Atlas many times, but never read or knew about it until now. Interesting about the New Deal is that there was almost a militant revolution against FDR and legal injunctions against the massive legislation were (justly) filed to block implementation as unconstitutional, which was then circumvented (as is typical now) by more legislation. The real change of power began however in 1913, with the Federal Reserve Act under Wilson, even before then to Lincoln's not so civil and very unconstitutional war. Historical context is everything to understand where we are today. AmCon has some of the best articles that also challenge present republican thinking (especially articles by Pat Buchanan). |
