Let's say that global warming is just a bunch of rhetoric from the "doomsday crowd." What harm is there in cleaning up our environment? If presented with the decision to keep ignoring what we're doing to our planet vs. doing something to keep from continuing to pollute it, why wouldn't you want to conserve energy, encourage the production of clean air and water, etc.?

Who cares if we're destroying our planet at the rate of .7 degrees Celsius at a time or 5.5 degrees Celsius? That's arguing over minute details. The bigger picture is that the results will be the same regardless of the rate of destruction: bad air, bad water, less natural resources, endangered => extinct species that are crucial to preserving the current food chain, etc.

Cleaning up the environment is a great thing. We should be spending our time and money on doing just that instead of spending that so much to try and slightly lower the output of a non-pollutant into the atmosphere that even if we succeeded in reducing to Kyoto standards would have little to no effect on any warming.

So nice to finally hear from the other side of this. I'm getting really sick of all the baseless hype.

That's fine. But that is not what global warming is about. Everyone supports a clean environment. No one wants dirty water or dirty air. The issue here is crooked schemes that funnel money away from strong economies and give it to poor economies on the basis of a scam. The best thing we can do for the environment is lock all the evnvironmentalists up behind razor wire ( kidding, of course, but it is the best thing we can do).
Who wants to start the list of environmental catastrophes created by environmentalists and materialists.

i suggest anyone seriously interested in global warming should study the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) website http://www.ipcc.ch/

This year IPCC have published 3 papers on global warming: - the Science of Global Warming, the Impact of Global Warming and the Action required to minimise global warming:-

Yes, they should read the IPCC, 2001 pg 94
where they cite there is no evidence to suggest the current warming trend is anthropogenic and the current warming trend could be natural.
The IPCC report is mostly good science. What is not good, and is the only thing anyone knows anything about, is the politically charged IPCC report written by socialist politicians.
