The new service will enable truckers to get up-to-the-minute alerts about weather and traffic events so they can re-route shipments and avoid bottlenecks. The service, using technology developed for the Defense Department, marries RFID systems and geo-positioning technology to make it easier for trucking companies to warn customers about delays.
