Are you guys at Forbes being paid to make the oil companies' case? First of all, most American live more than 1500 miles from a major oilfield. Moving fuel internally over U.S. roads is certainly safer, faster and requires less insurance than moving a tanker from the Persian Gulf ! Second, gasoline, fuel oil and diesel also require hazardous material permits and cause wear on the roads. What's the big deal about that? Ever hear of the Interstate Highway Trust Fund?
