kkcapricorn says: It's no surprise to us average - soon-to-be-poor folk. Can we do something about it? Can we do something about it?Never vote for the party of Reagan, Nixon, or Bush Again. Actually they are doing something about it. A whisteblower just lifted the lid on rich Americans with billions of dollars in Swiss accouts, all exempt for U.S. taxes of course. Not anymore. Busted. SPAMMER ALERT (nima1) What is there to do? It has been so for a very long time, at least in the US. There are a few different "takes" on this "rich getting richer" theme. Perhaps in our hedonistic society, it's easier now for the rich to stay so, catering all the while to a large fanbase of middle-class show-me, buy-me, get-me's. Is is wrong to get rich and stay that way? Certainly not. Is it wrong to work your way to the top and hide assets so that, by your greed, you don't have to contribute back to the society in which you live? Definitely yes, it's deplorable. (BTW - It is doubtful that filthy rich people sit around playing World of Warcraft all day long. If they did, to be sure, they already know how to cheat and buy their own WoW Gold. Wrong thread to post on, Nima1. Perhaps Blizzard should freeze your account and deny you access to your level 70 Druid.) Can we do something about it?Peacefully? Yes. Stop buying crap. Find ways to reduce the overhead for living. Then only utility, oil, and housing industries will make money. No. Even if an entire lot of socialists managed to get elected into office, the rich would just bail like rats on a burning ship. In addition the upper one percent's investments (the smart ones) are spread in the above mentioned industries. Violently? Yes. If enough people with enough guns say enough is enough. No. Remember, if your in range, so is the opposition. @Napster: I've noticed more and more spammers here on CM lately. Just remove and block them. *shrugs* jerks will find a way... What was purported to be an interview with a Chinese worker, he laughed at every item his factory made as unnecessary. And the factory was making huge profits exporting them. I may have some in my house. But, as Rioting Drone (I nearly spelt your name "rooting" drone - must have been reading too much about artificial intelligence) we need to cut back on the crap, if just because the cost of living could go through the roof and all money will be needed for the vege patch etc Should be "as R D points out" When I hear "rooting" I think of the slang of the Auzzies. (Shrieks and hides noticing tabsey is Australian) Accoding to the official numbers by the U.S. Dept of Treasury, Michael Moore is spouting more of distortions and propaganda. source The Bush tax cuts have resulted in record revenue to the treasury. Where did that revenue come from? The poor? The middle class? No. It came from the rich and the fact the the rich as a group are increasing in numbers! tax paid by top 5% of income earners has INCREASED! 1990 - 25% of total 1995 - 30% of total 2000 - 37% of total 2005 - 39% of total tax paid by top 10% 1990 - 55% 1995 - 61% 2000 - 67% 2005 - 70% tax paid by top 25% 1990 - 77% 1995 - 80% 2000 - 84% 200... And cheer up. The whole system that people cherish and support means that wealth will trickle down. Eventually. Just be patient. And cheer up. The whole system that people cherish and support meansThat has already happened in many ways. 1 way is the record revenue being recieved by the US Treasury. That is trickle down. Less tax = more capital in the economy more capital in the economy = demand more demand = more productivity more productivity = increased number of times a dollar is turned over increased number of times a dollars is turned over = wealth creation among all goups ( which is what we have now) and increase to the National Treasury ( also what we have now) It worked under Kennedy, Reagan, and Now Bush. It works every time it's tried. You are never gonna be rich Willhelm. And "everyone" under Clinton made money from the dot com bubble. Why is it that no one wants to recognize that the surge in the economy in the last two years of Clinton's term, the claim that he was a great economic leader, was nothing more than an economic bubble. Either or. Us lesser beings are screwed. P.S.: Reaganomics has a few merits. The rest of it is imaginary drivel dreamed up by and presented as gibberish by an aging theologian. You are never gonna be rich Willhelm.Well, that just may be the difference in our characters, happiness, mental health and outlook on life. I don't have to be rich to recognize the value of achievement. It also does not cause in me the slightest need to belittle those who create wealth for themselves and others. I also recognize that wealth is not entirely materialistic. I have no desire for other's gain. By world standards we are all fairly wealthy, most of us falling in the top 2%. So, what in your pitiful outlook on life, disgusting character and greed in others possessions and circumstances makes you so ungrateful that you cannot recognize that fact and the fact that yo... but you would trade place with me in a heartbeat.Oh no, I wouldn't Willhelm. Keep up the good work, debbyski, seems you have ones blood flowing. Thank you for chiming in with your continuing trollish, hateful, and Now, back to discussing your sex life with your husband on Clipmarks. You sure don't own any mirrors Willie. Because if you ever did look in said mirror you would see: A weak Warrior with few weapons at his disposal Compost flings expletives and vulgarities to keep his opponent at bay. This tactical maneuver can occasionally rout especially sensitive combatants, such as Innocence Abused, but it is generally ineffective against more powerful Warriors. Nanny has littl... Besides who wants the life of a dry drunk anyway? LOL, cabanaben (debbyski's husband, or whatever) just became one of my followers...again....for about the 4th time. What a dolt. Dear pathetic trolls, no one asked you to address me personally and directly. As much as I love becoming the topic of discussion on your clips ( you know, given my narcissistic personality disorder and all) the harassment is quite the petty nuisance and I'm sure enjoyed by only the most infantile of clippers and egoldstein. If you have access to running water, then go shower. You stink. Speaking of narcissistic personality disorder, who carries on conversations with their spouse on clipmarks and thinks others, besides the complete loons, are at all interested? You are weird people. Echo....echo.....echo...... @Rat *LOL* Willhelm, You are soooooo funny. It seems to me that you must be the one following all my comments (I can see you right now with one hand one the keyboad . . .) Very selective statistics by willhelm. He chooses to use total revenues collected which should increase as our population and economy increases. However the telling statistic is really tax revenue as a percentage of GDP. Tax revenue as a percentage of GDP actually went way down under Bush in the years 2000-2004. Only recently did it return to the 40 year average. However this year it is headed back down. What is the result of this? Record deficits that ultimately weakens the U.S. dollar making gas more expensive and making U.S. companies easy take over targets for international corporations (Budweiser anyone?). The fact that personal income tax tiers have been reduced over the years to t... |
