Some organizations like to show that they are not in touch with reality. PETA wants to deprive one person of the right to earn money to attack an industry. That these finely bred, wonderful animals break down under the stress of racing goes with the industry. Horses, such as Eight Belles, are generally worth too much to take risks with. They have the best vets to check them, live in better conditions than many humans, have personal fitness stable hands and trainers. Considering the number racing, there are remarkably few put down, clearly showing that there are effective checks in the industry. Finally, our equine influenza outbreak showed just how many are employed by the industry. |
