If every family knew they would have to each pay near $50,000 for the Iraq war, Bush's approval rating might be at ZERO right now. At 25% approval rating, those 25% are still clueless how much this war is costing our country. The Outstanding Public Debt as of NOW is: $9,354,811,947,563 making each citizen's share $30,777. I'm not sure if it's worth it or not, but at least we ought to know that there's more fiscal malfeasance than ever.

While the cost of the Iraq war may have some impact on this year's and following year's budgets. The cost of the Iraq war will be paid timely. When you refer to the National Debt, you are getting into another issue entirely. The National Debt consists of projections that the Federal Government has to make to all living citizens. That means every time a baby is born in the US the National Debt goes up by, let's say 30,000 ( I do not know the exact number). In other words, the National Debt could all but be wiped out entirely with the US defaulting on or eradicating all entitlement, Social Security, medicare programs and defense obligations made to some 20 or so Nations around the world, including much of Europe.

That would be projections of obligations that the Fed Gov't has to make...
