The Prime Minister's reaction to getting DVDs is not known. Mr Brown is not noted for his love of cinema, although he once claimed on a trip to India that he was an admirer of Bollywood.

As revealed by yesterday's Standard, the Browns showered gifts on the Obama children too, using the occasion to promote British exports.

Sarah Brown gave Sasha and Malia Obama an outfit each from Topshop, which has just opened its first American store in New York. She also picked six children's books by British authors which are shortly to be published in America.

In return, the Obamas gave the Browns two models of the presidential helicopter, Marine One, to take home to sons Fraser and John.

Wonder if those DVDs will even play in DVD players sold in England? DVDs have certain regions where they can be played, and US DVDs are region one while European DVDs are region two.

Seems they also left out how one of Obama's first official acts was to send back that bust of Churchill that had been in the Oval Office since 9/11 even though they told him he could keep it.

If only Prime Minister Brown and his wife Sarah had stayed over 'til Wednesday night, which has become the regular "party night" at the WH since the Obama's have taken up residence six weeks ago.

The guests are schmoozed with appetizers while sipping on cocktails, and on several occasions there was live entertainment by Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind and Fire. The AP also reported that there was a
"congo line" toward the end of the evening. The WH
is what's happening on Wednesday night in DC.

(Apparently, the Prime Minister wasn't included on the
president's guest list.)
