pokkets says: It does seem a bit remote, but the idea is interesting, because of the reduced amount of energy lost through Neutron escape. One of the problems is the scarcity of Helium 3 on Earth. There has been a significant amount of helium 3 detected on the moon. There is an article below the news links, and links to research projects at the end. "They" say that all science pays for itself. Let's hope future "mining" ventures to the moon can improve our options for energy. good clip, I hope there will be a more plentiful source of power without going to the moon to get it. There are huge fields of helium in western Kansas, yet I don't know how much is Helium 3. I'll check into that. If the mass of the moon is reduced through mining, it will affect the pull of gravity. I suppose the colonies that the Russian and Chinese want to build will make up for the loss of mass. |
