Maybe this works for some people, but all I can think is that this is a really unhealthy way to not move past a loved one's death.

Death happens, 100% of the time, and it's permanent. I look at these urns and see people who don't want to accept that reality and are looking to buy an emotional escape clause.

Photos of the dead laid out at a wake, fine. But you dead loved one's severed head staring out across the room...

I don't see these things showing up in emotionally stable households.

It's just cultural baggage you've got there. In Mexico, especially in smaller villages, the skull is saved in a reliquary with the name of the person written on the forehead. No big deal, and no, they're not "emotionally unstable."

Also, making a bust as a piece of art to remember the deceased has been practiced in so many cultures they can't be counted. This is just one step further by filling the bust with the deceased's ashes.

This is just to weird and strange.Much as I love my family I don't think I'd want this sort of reminder of them. A nice portrait or favourite photograph is much nicer.

@Boniface: Yes to the cultural baggage. But a skull is, I think, qualitatively different from a realistic replica head.

A skull, I kinda feel, is a more honest understanding and acceptance of death. It is literally looking death in the face. The facial replication aspect of these things...

A skull is what naturally occurs. It's part of the process of death. We're not supposed to see a 3D, full color head of our loved one long after their death.

Believe me, I think Dia de los Muertos and the associated traditions are INFINITELY more well-adjusted than this thing.

Carving a bust out of stone is one thing. This is...

Can they make 'em outta chocolate?
I'm going out of the house now.

To cry.

Because of the image I can now not get out of my brain, of someone eating their dead loved one's head made out of chocolate.

I thought this couldn't get worse...

You could top the chocolate with all sorts of toppings to commemorate their personality.

Of course, this could be a big seller among zombies.

Oh, man! Monkey is right on all counts, but the degradation of the comments to a chocolate surprise is freakin' hilarious!

LMAO!

Yea, why not put it on your nightstand next to your bed so you'll have the comfort of knowing it'll be staring at you all night. What a lovely thought.

Can you get them so the eyes glow in the dark?!?!?!
Or did someone suggest that already?
How about a little voice recorder to save your loved ones favorite lines." I love you, dear." or "Honey, have you seen my torso?"
