The Doomsday Code

I've been watching it, (it's a bit long), but it's the premise that I'm talking about.

The people that are trying to decipher the "real" meaning are working from the premise that god writes so you can't understand it, but he's doing this on purpose.

Never do they realize that the reason they think it's in code in the first place is because they AGREE it doesn't make sense as written!

I know a lot of Christians don't believe in literal interpretations (like that can happen given the horoscope language of end times).

That means they can leave open any interpretation that "feels" right to them. It's the same as reading a horoscope. The reader can "get to it" and "feel" they understa...

But when you examine what the horoscope actually says... it's really so ambiguous you can make it mean whatever you want it to mean. That's why so many believe in horoscopes. And they will be happy to tell you just how "true" they really are.

Wouldn't the "actual" truth be a better benefactor to Man than confusion?

It was written by more than 40 different people over a period of 1500 years and is a collection of different writings, poems, stories, letters, thoughts etc. collected into this one "book". Ok... not all believe that Bible is the literal word of God. Far from it. It was written by more than 40 different people over a period of 1500 years and is a collection of different writings, poems, stories, letters, thoughts etc. collected into this one "book". Your arguments are always narrow-minded and limited to countering the extremist American views that this one particular book is the only route to spirituality or enlightenment or belief, which it isn't..(Shock! ) Go argue that with the end-timers or the rapture-ready's if you want. *LOL* They love your kind of right-fighting and will likely gladly engage you. Also, if you had watched the whole movie, your concerns regarding "the premises" would also have been addressed.

So! Newsflash: The Bible is NOT the "end all" of belief. (What a concept, eh?) Jesus; (who was a man, not a God, argue that with a "religious" person too, if you like.) the way he lived his life and the things he tried to show you are what you can take away from it all. That's the long and short of it. Anyway, during time, things in the Bible have been omitted, translated, interpreted, misunderstood, guessed about and inevitably been corrupted and misread, etc. For someone to claim that every single word is literally God's word and that every word should be taken at face value, and that the Bible is the one-and-only way, (no more and no less even!) is simply inadequate and underestimates IMO the whole concept of a God. Those who believe that or waste time contra-arguing the point, should then perhaps revise their Bible editions to include chapters on the "divinely inspired" words of the David Koresh's, George Bush's, Ted Haggert's and every other tele-evangelist type freak or cult leader or high-flying druggie of the world who...

after all, also claim (just as believably or not) to have heard God's voice. I guess I just question the lack of burning bushes on every street corner. Or ask them to go looking for the lost writings and books that were omitted to suit the political and religious concerns of the time. Or ask the Pope to free up some of all the "secrets" and censorship of writings, that they have locked away in their vaults at the Vatican. Or maybe there are more Dead Sea Scrolls waiting to be found? We can't know. Try to move on from just being an anti-Bible jockey. It's getting old.

My spirituality goes waaaay beyond any book or specific religion. They are not the deciding factor to why I think there is m...

I am where I am in my life's journey for a mega-multitude of reasons, which is the accumulative sum of all the experiences I have had during my life. Your journey is obviously different. I do not try to convince anyone or YOU, or expect anyone to see or understand the sights or things on MY "route". As I have said before, I don't feel the need or urge to defend why I believe this or that, that has never been a concern of mine. I am quite comfortable and at ease with my journey and that's ALL that matters to me. To me, spirituality (as with sexuality, love, etc) is personal and is not something I have to have explained or justified or "told to me" or "taught me" or "modified" by someone else, a priest or a religion, a guru or whatever other smartarse who comes along and thinks they know all there is to know, and wishes to force feed ME their ideas or even urge me to "comply" with their way, be they religious kooks or atheist kooks, I really don't care. There "actual" truth is not necessarily my truth or anyone else's for that matter. I think we have to find our own way. I WANT to find my own way. Who believes and who doesn't, and in what, doesn't mean a hoot to me. (and that's putting it nicely) That's their business.

I DO have a problem though, when people's journeys start to infringe on other people's freedoms, by trying to force their "travel plans" onto others. (Hence the clip) I DO have a problem, when people hang on in desperation to some notion of their particular flavour of religion (often born into and unquestioned) as the one and only and "ultimate truth", denying science and facts and evolution etc, to suit their needs, and to not to be willing to learn and grow and understand via those cues, and who via their "internal worlds" being externalised, put the rest of us in peril. (End-timers and other cult weirdos etc) Or when people's religions (I am very anti-religion) become the justification ...

They are no better than the loony religious weirdos IMO, pushing and interfering in the business of others, when they really should just be minding their own journeys.

Some are followers. Some are seekers. Some are neither. If you want to discuss "religion" I am definitely not the one to ask. Ask a mere follower. I hope this is the last time you ask me one-tracked, constricted "American" questions about my spirituality and that this is your last attempt at preaching atheism to me, because I don't want to be convinced or coersed or manipulated or indoctrinated by anyone, you included. I will gather my own information, I will decide what I believe and I will modify my beliefs accordingly when and if it's necessary and no amount of pushing your atheism on me will hasten or divert me from my travel plans or make you any more "right" either, for that matter. Okay? Oh, And I don't believe in horoscopes either, for the exact same reasons as you.

Like you said earlier, Man wrote it over several hundred years. That makes it Man's message to Man with a god context. Nothing more.
