He also disobeyed the law and murdered human beings. Whether or not he disobeyed the 10 commandments (which he did) or Islamic doctrine is irrelevant.

Totally agree. But above arguments are relevant to those people who take religious laws above institutional law. Sad but there are people who uphold scriptural laws above others hence the so-called issues with religion.
