bignosemousie says: Houston: it's not as bad as you think. (That's should be our city's new slogan). Hee. More about Houston in the article, if you are interested. We have the National Funeral Museum! I've never been because I can't convince anyone to go with me. It's sounds great to me. Er, maybe I'm not the best representative. Look at all the typos. Houston: We spel gud. I'm adding Houston to my "places to visit next time you go to the U.S." list, mousie. This was very convincing: "Houston is much greener than they thought it would be. They were impressed by our downtown skyline. They said the skyline 'looked like a film set, something out of Disney.' " Invictus, Houston is very international, especially in it's restaurants. Don't visit in the summer (June - Oct.) as it's really hot and humid here (with mosquitos the size of pigeons). People here are really friendly, but you should assume that everyone has a gun. Our newspaper ran an article on Turkey a few weeks ago in the travel section. Wow, it's beautiful there. You are one lucky man to have those views. I was in Houston about 2 years ago, and I must say I really liked it. It was rodeo time, the Ikea was still being built, and the highways were a mess. But one morning, stuck in traffic, I realized that no one was honking. Everyone drove huge pickup trucks, and they were the most polite drivers I've ever had the opportunity to cut off. highways were a mess.Oh, they are still a mess. The I-10 expansion to 400 lanes (that might not be an accurate count) is making a mess of gigantic proportions. I have to give credit to our Highway Dept. though, as they do a good job with their traffic control plans while this is going on. Thanks for saying nice things about Houston. |
