debbyski says: Woods by Wendell Berry I part the out thrusting branches and come in beneath the blessed and the blessing trees. Though I am silent there is singing around me. Though I am dark there is vision around me. Though I am heavy there is flight around me. Very interesting clip debbyski, I worked the woods for years and wood was and is very precious to me. this is a good clip and I for one appreciate Mr. Bjorklund's attitude and determination to educate the public about conservatism of our beautiful trees! Trees are nature and nature ROCKS! I think there is something spiritual about working with your hands to create beauty. Jesus worked with his hands. I have wanted to salvage and use - or re-use - urban wood for a long time! Many of the things I make have been made from storm falls or lumber in cast-off furniture. And in the midwest, where barns are tumbling down unused, think of the wood in their massive beams that usually gets burned down. Oh my goodness Mas, There is some awesome wood in old barns. It's good that people like him are starting to salvage the trees, and even old buildings. There's entirely too much waste. We really live in a throw away society that is so wasteful and harmful to the environment. I was not brought up that way and it aggravates me to see such waste. It seems like a certain element of society wants instant results and satisfaction and then when there done throw it down or away and move on. |
