the more a nation believes in God, the worse off they were when it came to social ills such as homicide, crime, and high rates of unwanted pregnancies.

Decades ago Ireland was dominated by the Catholic Church. Now it has little real influence. Our social ills may be up but apparently not at the rate of climb of other countries. So maybe there is something to this theory.
