I wanted to avoid the fight that some of these other families are dealing with. Just after Columbine happened, the legislature here in Colorado was seriously considering re-instituting prayer in the schools and I decided then that, even though, at the time, I was not yet an atheist, that was not something that I wanted to subject my children to. It's all about having the freedom to be you, without the fear of others subjecting you to jeers and smears (OR WORSE) because you don't follow the so called crowd... It's truly sad that so many of us have not evolved from the days of monarchical traditions, when Kings and Queens forced their form of religion upon their subjects. There was so much bloodshed from opposing religions, that if a man called God really existed, he would have employed all his magical powers, religious people imagine him to hold and have purged all homo sapiens from his kingdom here on earth.
