After all of the talk of the ethics of stem cells, it seems as they do more research they are finding better ways to do the same things.

I've mixed feelings about stem cells, myself. In the interests of accuracy, however, it should be pointed out that (1) these "better ways to do the same things" are (1) not necessarily better (they can be, just not *necessarily*), and (2) are pursued because stem cell work is very restricted in this country. Dealing with the red tape can be more difficult than the actual research. Because of this, there's often no chance to compare the different approaches to decide which is better.

Figuring out how the body marshals its resources is key to many things.

Simply discovering the disparate methods probably doesn't tell us enough about the processes involved.

How many times do we find something new, only to discover that there are side effects?

So something like this may well be much more beneficial in the long-term...
