Our intimate little get together is now a full blownI'll pop to that! Thank you Godfrey. New Clipmarks color: Red. I was thinking of splicing some screencaps together to capture the amazing influx of people today - you beat me to it, GD Everyone finally found directions to the little party we've been throwing. What a change! Hope there's enough cake and punch to go around for everyone.... Cake and punch! Cake and punch! Fantastic clip GD, captured the moment beautifully. thanks gd! Congrats CM! May your servers, your brains and your pockets survive the onslaught! arifsali - that's a totally wrong color choice, pick something else please. awesome clip! awesome site! group hug, anyone? How about green, GD? We all like the sound of green, don't we? That was Mr Sage's comment, Arif. I think the allusion to the color of the first clip oval eluded him Here here! As I guessed yesterday and stated on another comment, little creatures in the form of red ellipses, with the word "first!" inscribed on them, invaded my dreams. Eric, I've been watching the flood of the "first clips" since yesterday and I guess the total number of members must have been multiplied by two in just 24 hours, right? arifsali - that's a totally wrong color choice, pick something else please. RecordSage, come to think of it again. You know, the color red has new meanings in America, as in the "Red States". My favorite color has always been blue, by the way (serious). RecordSage is swinging I think his associative reflex to red had to do with the nature of his country of origin . Godfrey Daniel - The Clipper with an ever-changing avatar I'm (somewhat) happily married with kids, sohil, so watch those comments. @invictus - you're right invictus, red in this instance would be acceptable, although I live in the blue state, which I'm sure you'd like, since it's your favorite color btw, I left the "live clips" window open and didn't refresh it for 20 minutes. Then on the bottom line it was said "showing 217 clips". Can you believe it, 117 clips were posted in just 20 minutes. Nice avatar, Godfrey... you're absolutely right, although I'd probably refer to it as nostalgic twitch than associative reflex. Red's ok when mixed with blue and white, but by itself - yuck. oops, okay, it doesn't show 117 clips "posted" and includes pops too. But I think most of them were new clips. That screen shot is a beauty! The new PI reflects my efforts to keep up with the new pace. Chasing Red Ovals And the haiku remix... new PI reflects efforts to keep with the pace chasing red ovals eeeeyeah boyeeeeeeeeee! sweet, Adam! you available, part time? let's talk. your peeps, my peeps, in touch, mutual benefit, name your price @invictus - you said 'oops'... no, no, NO! You don't say 'oops' after I elevated you to the level of someone who can come up with an earthquake when needed... no 'oops' allowed for you! I'm (somewhat) happily married with kids, sohil, so watch those comments. You what I meant... Swing Votes. If only so many of the new first clips were not "test". It is so hard to give someone a real example of clipping when the only thing you have to work with is a test clip. Nice Clip! I begin to think that it would be more healthy if the new users' default was "private clips". They could test it, save as many as they wanted, and when they got experience and wanted to share the clips they posted, they could change their default settings to "public". I'm very happy with the booming reputation and popularity of Clipmarks but not so happy with the quality of the clips and the site content now. I am experiencing difficulties to follow the clips of the people on my favourite list. Very interesting idea, Invictus. I don't understand why people do this, and even more, I don't get why they don't quickly delete them, replacing them with something of real content. You got it invictus. This is exactly how I started, mostly my private clips, but then I saw the wisdom in sharing. But the current audience seems to be digg/reddit crowed, and they probably don't much care about the community aspect of this site; however, I think you have an effective idea. I think majority of the new crowed who would end up staying here for long will eventually figure everything out. Those who come and leave are better off with what they see so far. The speed of the site is what the site owners initially intended anyway, and their efforts in arranging the tabs and everything makes me think that the speed doesn't really matter much, as long as you know how to navigate, you're fine. Bump! For Invictus' suggestion. Exactly invictus. Many clips we have now aren't really informative (no offense). They're well the same stuff on Digg et all. The High Price of Popularity If Clipmarks gets a new "Groups" feature (like Deepti suggested a long time ago), we could create a group called "classic" for our needs I feel once they see more of our clips (on climate change, education etc) I think they'll get the message. Ah, what a difference in a year. Still fresh red ovals, still quality clips. Let sleeping dogs lie, mousie! LOL |
