bignosemousie says: Matthew 5:44 I don't hate anyone. I think thats as close to Godliness as I'm ever going to get. I love this excerpt from Tod Lindberg, "How, exactly, can salt lose it's saltiness? Its taste and its properties with regard to bodily needs as well as its utility as a means of preserving food are inextricably bound up with what it is. If you are salt, then you must be salty. It is not in Jesus's metaphor that the salt is in people, commingling with who they are - an influence on them that might recede or be eliminated - but that they ARE salt. You can't separate those who are salty from the properties of salt within them." Willhelm, I'm so tired right now, I have no idea what that means. What is salt a metaphor for? Thanks. I'll let you know when I learn. I have to go nighty-night. I think it is a reference to Matthew 5:13-15. Don't lose your saltiness. One is salty in order to salt others. One is shiny in order to light the path. I I just have to know, what does wiilhelm's comment have to do with bnm's clip? I think it is an example of Attic Wit. I do so agree with the idea of loving your enemy but it is hard. Charity (caritas) begins at home and home is where the heart is. And how many of us can feel at home in a loving heart? Love your enemies .... unless thy want to kill you. Have you heard the expression, "killing them with kindness" Would that eventually work with your enemies? Love your enimies, it will drive them nuts. Charity (caritas) begins at home andDid you eat Chinese today? I think we opened the same fortune cookie. I love you, abailart. Not that you are my enemy or anything. |
