thisnamecantbetaken says: 74,000!! So sad, that this is allowed to happen in one of the world's richest cities. Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S. yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are. The most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here. I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year? Is that what is so bad about America? Why not shed a tear for those people in Darfur? Or is is so awful that Bush s... Ah yes, America the exceptional, above reproach. Oh boy.... Maybe it's easier to ignore the suffering of others, if one has never really felt it on their own bodies, seen it up close or been homeless themselves. Then you CAN'T just turn off the TV and think of something else. As for Bush, maybe he did SO many really, really, really bad things, that people can't see the few thing he did manage to do right? . One thing I've noticed, whether it's in the US or Canada, the west coast big cities always have the highest number of homeless people; way more than in the central part of either country or on the east coast. I think it's because of the warmer climate and the drugs are more readily available. Sad really. If the majority of the homeless were actually back where they moved here from the homeless population would be much much smaller. But, for whatever reason they are here and they need help now. Pointing out problems here in the US is not anti-American. In fact, I feel it is compassionate to address the needs of our citizens. Is it wrong to hope that our country always strives to be better than it already is? To recognize its flaws and do its best to weed them out? “I don't believe in 'My country right or wrong'. My country wrong needs my help.”Do do otherwise is to leave oneself mired in complacency. |
