How very sad. One of the best comedic actors is no more. Thankfully through reruns he will still be able to bring smiles to many more able recognize his unique talent.

Veteran actor Peter Boyle, who played the crabby father of Ray Romano on the CBS comedy "Everbody Loves Raymond," died Tuesday night in New York, CBS News has learned.</DIV> <BR /><DIV>Boyle was born Oct. 18, 1935, in Philadelphia. He left a calling as a Christian monk in the 1950s to become an actor, and in 1970, he won acclaim playing an intolerant factory worker in the movie "Joe."  </DIV> <BR />In 1974, Boyle joined Mel Brooks to star as the famous monster in "Young Frankenstein." Boyle reportedly was in full monster make-up for the film when he met his future wife, Rolling Stone reporter Loraine Alterman Boyle.
